Migrate in a structured way. Operate with confidence.
A modular end-to-end process
secunet cloud’s cloud migration offering provides companies with a structured and secure way to migrate their workloads from legacy systems (on-premises) and existing cloud environments (multi-cloud) to a sovereign infrastructure with server locations in Germany.
The service is designed as a modular end-to-end process that combines technological expertise with strategic consulting to minimize risks and control costs.
Four Phases Toward the Target Architecture
Each phase has a clear focus—from feasibility to optimized operations.
Analysis of the Current Environment
Focus: Solution Design, Timeline
Focus: Minimal Downtime, Secure Transfer Routes
Focus: Scalability, Performance, Cost Management
Assessment and Analysis
- Discovery: Scoping relevant assets—servers, databases, storage—in the legacy environment and existing clouds.
- Dependency Analysis: Identification of dependencies between applications to form migration groups and avoid outages.
- Compliance check: Assessment of regulatory requirements, such as GDPR and KRITIS, for data requiring special protection.
- Cost estimate and proposal: Breakdown of one-time and ongoing costs for the target setup.
Planning the Target Architecture
- Solution Design: Designing the target architecture, selecting suitable products, managed services, and project solutions, as well as planning ongoing operations.
- Migration Strategy: Determining whether services will be migrated in a “big bang” or in waves, including fallback measures in the event of an interruption.
Core Operational Process
- Setup of the Target Environment: Initialization of the new cloud setup with VMs, resources, products, and services.
- Data Transport: Encrypted transfer of data from the legacy data center or a third-party cloud via secure connections.
- Tool-Based Replication: Background synchronization to reduce final downtime to just a few minutes.
- Test Migration: Test runs in the STAG environment for validation under real-world conditions.
- Cutover: Switching the DNS entries and final go-live in the secunet cloud.
After Migration
- Right-Sizing: Verifying whether allocated resources such as CPU and RAM are actually needed to avoid overcapacity.
- Fine-Tuning: Reviewing product and service settings as well as regular backups, optionally including a disaster recovery test.
